2 months after the first hammer was swung we completed closing in the house. All the doors and windows are in and the mud room is complete. The roofers finished up on Wednesday on both the main house and the mud room. We will tackle the siding and finish work next.

Does the masonry distribute the heat from the woodstove a little better, or is it just decorative, so you could get by with putting it in the middle of the house(easier to live with that a metal tube in the middle of your wall)?

Hi, the masory will be cultured stone which is purely decorative. We have noticed that the chimney is giving off heat all the way up the to the 2nd floor. The chimney actually costs as much to have made as does to have the stove piping added and installed, so you are better off building a small chimmney 16x16 tha having the pipe in the house. Plus you can create a nicer appealing look.
